If We Were at Happy Hour

If We Were at Happy Hour…

One of my favorite bloggers, Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner, has a great feature called “If We Were Having Coffee” that gives you more insight into the life “behind the blogger”. I always love reading her posts and thought I would give it a try!

So cozy up with your favorite beverage, and let’s pretend we’re having a real coffee date and get to know each other a little better! I’ve got a rum and coke because I just got home from work…so maybe this post should be more like ‘if we were at happy hour’?! That sounds great. Give me all the chips and queso, please.

If we were at happy hour… I would tell you that I’m currently reading THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE. I put this one off for a long time because it seemed kinda like something I would like but then again maybe not? I’m about 25% done right now and so far I’m loving it so much that I’ve already pre-ordered the next book in the series.

I’m also kicking myself a little for not trying the book sooner because the author, Mackenzi Lee, was at an event I went to last fall so I could have gotten the book signed.  I would ask you about what you’re currently reading and how it’s going.

If we were at happy hour… I would tell you that I’ve been really struggling over the past month. My dog, Ruby, passed away on May 9th due to cancer and I just miss her SO much. She was the sweetest dog I have ever met. Everyone who met her fell instantly in love with her. She was just the best dog in the world and I wish I could have had more time with her. I try to think of the happy memories and take comfort in knowing that she loved me just as much as I loved her. She was my best friend. I would ask you how you deal with grief and stress, and ask if you have any pointers for me.

If we were at happy hour… I would tell you that I have never felt so busy and stressed as I have these past few months. I work full time as a property manager and decided to go back to school full time as well. I’m really enjoying my classes and am excited to complete my Bachelor’s Degree, but it is HARD. Plus, I started my own business at the beginning of the year and am doing part time work as a travel agent. Plus dealing with the loss of my dog has just left me feeling all kinds of stressed out.

Despite being a little overwhelmed with everything, I am really happy with everything I’m doing. I hope one day I will be able to work full time as a travel agent, but it will probably take quite a while until I get there. I would ask what exciting things you have going on in your life.

If we were at happy hour… I would tell you about my upcoming travels! I’m super passionate about traveling and am so excited for the next few months because they are basically packed with travel.

In August, my husband and I will be staying at a resort in Aruba for a few days. We have nothing really planned for the trip and will be able to just relax at the beach/pool all day….nothing sounds better, honestly. In September, I’m taking a really crazy trip by myself to the Amazon Rainforest and Quito, Ecuador. The rainforest portion is guided and with a group of course, but it still seems a little nuts that I’m actually going to see the Amazon. And hopefully a sloth!

We’re going up to Wisconsin in November to see my husband’s family for Thanksgiving. We’re bringing our miniature poodle, Haylee, along and I can’t wait to see what she thinks of the snow! Finally, we’re heading back to Belize for Christmas! If you read my last Happy Hour post, I was talking about how I was excited to go there for our honeymoon last fall. We LOVED the island and the resort we stayed at so much that we are going back for another week and I CAN’T WAIT. I would ask you if you have any trips coming up!

So, let’s chat! You can answer any of the questions above or ask your own or just talk about anything you want! I really do want to get to know you better, so just pretend that we’re sitting at the bar with a big margarita and some yummy appetizers! Cheers!
